Our Ingredients

Our Soap Oils and Why We Chose Them

You'll see that we aim for both skin-pampering luxury and gentleness. We believe the discerning soap lover will be able to tell the difference!

Olive Oil - The gold standard for soap making oils. Has been used for thousands of years, all over the world for making a moisturizing, creamy bar.

Lard - Makes a long-lasting, hard bar of soap with a creamy lather (this ingredient is being phased out).

Coconut Oil - Creates abundant lather and a hard, long-lasting bar.

Shea Butter - Contains essential fatty acids that nourish and protect the skin.

Palm OilMakes a long-lasting, hard bar of soap with a creamy, stable lather. While we have always chosen to be a palm-free brand, supply chain issues and inflation costs have forced us to make recent changes to our formulas. Rest assured that the palm oil we are purchasing is certified mass balance sustainable by RSPO.

Cocoa Butter - Increases bar hardness and stabilizes lather. Skin soothing and moisturizing.

Castor Oil - Lather booster.

Rice Bran Oil - A mild oil that is great for sensitive skin. Note: This ingredient has become difficult to source and we have replaced it with sustainable palm oil.

Additional Ingredients Used in Our Other Products

Aloe Vera - We add aloe to our soaps for increased lather and because it's soothing to the skin.

Avocado Oil - This oil is high in vitamins A, D & E and Omega-3 fatty acids. We use it in our lotions, lip balms and beard oils because of its skin-penetrating moisture.

Beeswax - A main ingredient in our lip balms.

Candelilla Wax - This wax has a higher melting point than beeswax and we use it to firm up our lip balms.

Lanolin - Lanolin is an extremely hydrating emollient that has the ability to soften skin and heal up rough, cracked or flaky areas. It's a perfect ingredient for lip balms.

Jojoba oil - Used in our body oils, jojoba is fast absorbing and known to improve the quality of aging skin.

Mango Butter - Increases bar hardness and has luxurious conditioning and moisturizing properties.

Rice Bran Oil - A mild oil that is great for sensitive skin. Note: This ingredient has become difficult to source and we have replaced it with Sunflower Oil in our scrubs and lotions.

Vegetable Glycerin - A well-tolerated and incredibly effective moisturizing ingredient (a humectant derived from plants) that is commonly added to skincare products.

Product Ingredients You May Not Recognize

Cyclomethicone is an emollient compound that helps soften and improve the look of the skin while creating a silky feel. Your body does not absorb this ingredient, because the molecules are too large to penetrate the skin.

Sodium Lactate is a liquid salt that helps soap loaves to release from their molds more easily.

Emulsifying Wax - This is required anytime you need to get oil and water ingredients to mix and stay that way indefinitely, like in a lotion. It can also be used to keep sugar scrubs from separating.

Fractionated Coconut (MCT) Oil - Used in our body oils because it absorbs very quickly and has no fragrance.

Preservative - When using scrubs, people tend to apply with wet fingers. Once water gets into the jar, it's easy for bacteria to grow. Using a paraben-free preservative ensures your health and safety and extends the useful life of our scrubs and lotions. The one we use is called Liquid Germall Plus (INCI: Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate).

Propylene Glycol - Used in room sprays to keep the fragrance from separating and floating on top. This is a common ingredient in vape liquids.

Stearic Acid - A lotion thickener and stabilizer.
