Celebrating One Year: From Emerging Entrepreneur to Established Retailer

On June 7, 2024, I officially opened the doors to my first brick-and-mortar location inside of NewBo City Market. This was a significant milestone after over a decade of selling my bath and body products online and at in-person markets.

The opportunity to open my store came through the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year competition, which involved pitching my business to a panel of judges and competing against other businesses by demonstrating community interest in my products.

Winning the competition granted me a rent-free space at the market for a year, thanks to the support of Corda Credit Union. And I plan to renew my lease for a second year.

What You'll Find at Cedar Witch Goods

While I continue to handcraft my line of bath and body products—soaps, lotions, perfumes and more—I also curate a selection of whimsical and giftable items from other makers. My store features:

• Greeting Cards: Witty, snarky and cute cards for every occasion.

• Home Fragrance: Wax melts, candles, incense and locally-made room sprays.

• Accessories: A selection of headbands that we just can't keep in stock, Iowa-made earrings, fun tote bags and beautiful purses.

• Paper Goods: Notebooks, sweary pens, book accessories and some liberal stickers to slap on your water bottle. We also have a fun magnet collection and a small selection of books.

• Self-Care Items: Bath salts, herbal teas, hot & cold therapy packs, and magnesium lotion to help you relax and rejuvenate. 

• For Plant Lovers: We sell live plants, planters, plant-themed gifts and a brand of natural fertilizer and leaf spray.
  
• Essential Oil Gifts: From essential oil sets and plug-in diffusers to essential oil diffuser necklaces and car diffusers. And a small selection of Young Living Thieves products.

All products are carefully chosen to fit the aesthetic of the store, while prioritizing handmade and featuring a variety of local artisans. Items arrive weekly, so stop in and see what's new!

Anniversary Sale

To celebrate this first year anniversary, from June 6-8 I'm offering a 20% discount on all Cedar Witch Goods products, as well as all Moon Water Apothecary items, bath salts, and wax warmers. This sale is a thank-you to all who have supported me on this journey.

Looking Ahead

Winning the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year award was the catalyst that allowed me to bring Cedar Witch Goods into a physical space and connect with my community. I was able to hire a part-time employee who has been indispensable to my business. As I look to the future, I'm excited to continue growing, creating and connecting with you.
